Well, basically mean that F-Zero can become a question mark and start the cycle anew. Because, think about it, F-Zero has sold really bad in the past, but that doesn't mean it will always. If Nintendo really wanted to put time and resources into it, it is possible that it could sell reasonably well and be a profit-maker. The problem is, historically, it hasn't done too well, and Nintendo doesn't see any reason to invest. And I can't really blame them. I would argue that it is a dog right now, but could possibly be converted to a star if done extremely well, which kind of makes it a question mark.
10 gamesEh, not really.SNES original, X, Maximum Velocity, GX, and GP Legend (based on the freaking TV show) were the wide-release titles, which is a total of 5.Besides those they had an arcade game, a Satellaview series, and a Japanese-exclusive third GBA release. You can hardly blame the series itself on 'bad sales' when half the games weren't actually made available to most people. I'm also not sure why they kept insisting that sprite-based games were the ideal way to present the series, because that's completely ridiculous (though I understand hesitation to make a second Gamecube game).I think the series was too obscure, was flooded with mediocre and limited-release attempts, and besides GX I'm not sure the technology was there for most of them either. To bring it back now after a decade, with old fans chomping at the bit and a whole new potential audience raised on Smash Bros, I think would be worth at least a shot (so long as they don't screw it up with some crazy gimmick).
Heck, Fire Emblem had numerous games every gen from NES to Wii and was failure-after-failure until suddenly Awakening made it a massive success.
